This 8 goal thriller followed the 7 goals in the first game that was abandoned after 45 minutes

The match started 20 minutes late through floodlight failure and everyone thought this game was would never get completed especially after the first attempt two weeks previous was abandoned at half time due to heavy rain

Burnham and Maldon bring the best and worse out of each other in 135 minutes of football Burnham scoring 8 and Maldon scoring 7, but with the first 45 minutes being expunged from the records it will go down as a 4 - 4 draw in this entertaining match with constant twists and turns and great for the spectator, lots of goals, controversy, defensive mistakes by both teams and some really well taken goals

The Ramblers took a first half lead when on 13 minutes Neil Richmond had his fierce strike saved by keeper Richard Wray only to knock the ball into the onrushing Billy Hunt who calmly tucked the ball into the back of the net, he could have scored two more through the game and his tireless running up front got him Burnham's MOTM

Maldon & Tiptree responded and five minutes later Terry Griffiths was turned on the half way line by Chris Bryan he was then unchallenged before hit the ball with his right foot from the corner of the box inside the top far post making it 1 - 1

Burnham were unlucky not to get a second on 25 minutes when BradleyNobbs put in Neil Richmond with and inch perfect defence splitting Unfortunately for Neil Richmond he lost his footing with only the keeper to beat putting the ball just wide of the near post

it looked like the first half was going to end in a draw with both teams unable to break down each others defence until in the 42nd minute Maldon broke down the Ramblers right the cross at the near post was met by Joe Gardner who guided it past Jack Parr

Maldon & Tiptree went in at half time with a 2 - 1 lead

The second half started much the same as the first half with both teams giving up possession easily and not retaining the ball but on 52 minutes Maldon got their third goal when Danny Cossington lost the ball in Burnham's midfield to Jack Stevenson whose shot from the edge of the box beat Jack Parr

at 3 - 1 down everyone thought game ver but the Ramblers thought differently and an excellent shot by Bradley Nobbs took a deflection over keeper Wray to make it 3 - 2 on 62 minutes

Burnham were now on top of the game and were constantly threatening the Maldon goal and on 70 minutes goal of the night came from a Sam Mead corner which was cleared to the edge of the box one touch and a volley from Ricky Evans saw his shot come off the underside of the bar to make it 3 - 3

The game was still not over and Burnham kept pressing for the winner on 82 minutes Maldon got a corner and Tom Spillane flicked the ball on at the near post the looping ball finding its way to the back post that Grant Khory Davinson could not keep out making it 4 - 3 to Maldon

On 86 minutes Burnham were very fortunate not to concede what looked to everyone to be a penalty

Danny Cossington and Ricky Evans were both tireless in midfield and playmaker Stuart Judd just back from along injury played his part before being substituted for the lively Alex Akrofi, Nikki Beale and Reece Brandon both having a solid game in central defence supported by Grant Khory Davinson and Terry Griffiths at left and right back

The Ramblers got a free kick on 87 minutes midway in the Maldon half Sam Mead floated the ball to the far post and the ball broke to Neil Richmond at the edge of the box he took a touch to his right and fired the shot home into the top right hand corner giving Burnham a well deserved equaliser with the game finishing 4 - 4
