20. Sponsors Total Warrior Challenge

A team of six Pendle men can now call themselves warriors after completing the muddy and tough Total Warrior challenge - and all in the name of charity.

The team took on a mission which saw them caked in mud and running though electric wires and flames at the organized event in the Lake District.

The team was made up of Frank Shickle and Laurence Collinson, of Barrowford,
Matt Little and Frazer Durris, of Higher ford, Michael Hoare, of Blacko and ex Burnley RUFC Player Alistair Macadam, of Colne.

Some of the team are also set to complete the equally extreme challenge Tough Mudder this weekend and the more sedate 13 mile Great North Run in two weeks' time.

One of those is Frazer, director of costs reductions specialist firm, and Burnley RUFC Sponsors, Businesswise Solutions in Nelson, enjoyed Total Warrior much more than he expected.

He said: "Checking the Total Warrior website to find out my fate just days before completing the challenge gave me a bit of a shock when I saw obstacles such as the 'Human BBQ' in which you have to dash through 4ft of flames and 'The hocker', a series of electrified wires.

"But as I was doing it with a group of friends, it was amazing.
It was tough, we got absolutely soaked before being coated in mud, but we also had a lot of laughs. I would definitely do it again."

Total Warrior helps raise money for Help for Heroes, Great North Air Ambulance and Prostate Cancer UK.

The Tough Mudder in Skipton this weekend is again for Help for Heroes, while Frazer's place in the Great North Run is for a more local cause – Pendleside Hospice.
