Burnley & Bolton youngsters remember !

On Remembrance Sunday both clubs showed great respect before the match and then represented their side in positive manor, a great tribute to the boys, clubs, family and the game of rugby union.

Onto the game and Bolton came at Burnley from the off with a couple of strong carries, and after last weeks loss the home side showed great determination to keep them out.Burnley then went on the offensive themselves scoring their first with Tom Wooller powering down the wing, and then speeding in to score. With an attempt as a drop kick for the conversion from the touchline almost going over . With the weather a bit soggy and the ball slightly slippy for the first time this season the odd ball was going down, but then Charles Wilkes burst through and scored, next on the board was Logan Cain out sprinting the opposition and this time placing the ball down . When the weather changes maybe a slide or two handed try scoring is the way forward!! Now Burnley were showing they can ruck when it's called upon as Louie Nutter burst through numerous rucks with great work, and Jack Orr at the back not letting anything past, the side is taking shape to be a solid 15 A Side team. This week Blake Tonks was very lively and this resulted in him crossing under the sticks, for his first try of the season, converted by Wilkes. Wilkes was really playing well to, and leading the side as he crossed again in this half and finished the game with five for his efforts.

The away side kept coming and seeing they are a developing side at this age, improved in areas as the game went on, moving in to the second half and as usual another set of changes for Burnley as four went off and four on. The home side continued to score some good tries with Liam Jones, Louie Nutter twice and Troy Richmond all scoring good and individual tries. With Nathan Greenwood and Shay Brindle carrying very well before others scored the tries, but hard yards are just has important.

Still things that can be worked on - line outs even though uncontested we need to work quickly how many in, who stands where etc, ruck time some players are still a bit high. Positive is how the side kept playing as a team - the scrum was strong, ball retention was better this week and handling in wet conditions was decent.

Good Squad even with two players Ben Uttley & Tommy Handley representing the cadets with great credit, one lad ill and another playing another sport Burnley U14's still had nineteen lads playing -

Isaac Marshall, Jake Peverley, Shay Brindley, Nathan Greenwood, Louie Nutter, Jack Uttley, Matas Zalieckas, Mason Ward, Charles Wilkes, Tom Wooller, Troy Richmond, Logan Cain, Jack Orr, Tabbassum Munir, Liam Jones, Louie Murgatroyd, Seb Burton, Blake Tonks, Kian Bagnall.
