U14s enjoy their day in the sun!

Burnley for the second week on the trot played a side that had done very well in their pool in the Lancashire Waterfall stuctured season. The away side had good numbers and looked bigger than the home team and in the first few scrums looked to have the better of Burnley, but the lads rectified the problem themselves had a solid scrum and Jacob Howell fed the backline which passed down the line for Logan Cain to sprint away from tackles and score to put Burnley in the lead. Aldwinians came straight back and with powerful carries from their number one they got themselves on the board and converted to lead 7-5. The home youngsters new they were in a battle and tackles were going in from both teams but then Mason Ward powered through scoring at the foot of the posts and Charles Wilkes converted, quickly followed by a second from Cain as this time he stepped in side showed strength and pace and under the sticks he went. 19 - 7 to Burnley and with half time round the corner Aldwinians broke Burnley's defensive line, but Blake Tonks got back and tackled and half time arrived. With a squad of twenty two, rotation was massively important as this squad develops in ability and numbers.

Half time and massive works on were to support mates quicker, improve the quality of pass and tackle lads legs when they are bigger and wrestling up top is not really a option - all which the lads did in the second half and scorers from the home team began to go in and the away side did not. Wilkes scored the first two tries of the half one with a dummy, one from the back of a ruck over he went, he also converted one. In between Aldwinians scored one try out wide, few missed tackles! The last three tries of the game came from Burnley's forwards, who were showing great fitness levels, determination and strength, via carries from Shay Brindley, Jake Peverley, Tom Wooller and mazy runs from Cameron Tregay and Jack Orr led to Troy Richmond scoring and Louie Nutter, captain for the day getting two, with Ben Uttley kicking two.

All round solid team performance who have always had a difficult fixture against Aldwinains, but all twenty two lads stood up and played well, this Sunday it's a decent trip to Liverpool Collegiate, to a club this age have never played before.

Squad Sunday was - Louie Murgatroyd. Jack Uttley. Jake Peverley. Tabbassum Munir. Mason Ward. Louie Nutter. Blake Tonks. Troy Richmond. Jacob Howell. Charles Wilkes. Logan Cain. Matas Zalieckas. Tom Wooller. Cameron Tregay. Jack Orr. Isaac Marshall. Shay Brindley. Nathan Greenwood. Daniel Carlton. Ben Uttley. Kian Bagnall. Luke Drabble.
