A beautiful morning for playing rugby saw Heaton Moor visit in a Lancashire Festival game. Not playing them for many seasons it was great playing such opponents. Unfortunately during week with it being Easter holidays the opposition informed they had fifteen players but no front row. So the game started with uncontested scrums. With the home side nineteen strong the usual every 15 minutes rotation occurred.
Burnley started the match the stronger with good passing and running from all. With Scrums not competitive it gave lads more energy seeing the front row of Isaac Marshall, Shay Brindley, Jack Uttley make inroads in opposition. The outside backs, Jack Orr, Tom Wooller and Logan Cain were showing real pace beating there first would be defenders. To score first was Mason Ward, shortly followed by Jake Peverley who's try was converted by Charles Wilkes. The away side had some big tall runners but Burnley continued to defend well, and a third try was scored by Cain, has he out sprinted defenders and scored to go in half time 17-0 to the home lads. During this half also so Liam Finegan enter the fray, having played 3 or 4 years ago, now he's back and made three very good carries.
Into the second half and it seemed like the home team believed they were already in the final. With constant pressure from HM, some solid defence via Troy Richmond and Orr at the back kept them out. Then a penalty taken and HM burst through to score between the sticks, conversion made. 17 - 7....The away side were now coming at Burnley but good play by centres Matas and Louie M were keeping Burnley moving well. Then the away side got another try and the last five minutes the game was evenly poised 17 - 12. The home side kept them out and moved on to play Aldwinians this Sunday at home.....
