Chairman's Progress Report

It seems bizarre with thousands of our fellow citizens falling to an unseen horrid virus and as our country is in pandemic lockdown, we now are thinking about football’s return. To our friends and family who are suffering during these unprecedented times, we express our sincere sympathy, support and where appropriate prayers.

Administration and management can form part of a bureaucracy and rarely captures the passions football generates, we have however a number of tasks to complete in preparation for the new season’s fixtures, whenever they can be scheduled.

Our first formal meeting is the AGM, notices from David Sutton have been dispatched to shareholders on both registers, as we anticipate an attendance of more that six HM Government’s Covid-19 rules must be complied with. Sadly that means we all cannot be together on June 17th.

I look forward to reading shareholders questions as posted to the directors about the past year’s activities.

Upon closing the AGM’s formalities, I will direct that we focus on the future and collate information especially the new build of a football stadium in the village, our intended home ground fit for purpose and so close to Victoria Park.

We will be publishing a lot more of the work as completed, the above ground structures are a lot more interesting that the essential below ground infrastructure, although quite complex when working with a green field site and with contemporary building regulations.

At the time of writing we await more FA briefings on a new season’s dates & arrangements, we have helpful guidance from HM Government that the FA endorse, so that our coaches and ‘on field’ managers will use as the playing squad is assembled.

Please keep an eye on our web site & curated social media, Steve our General Manager & Football Secretary looks forward to hearing from you, lots of jobs for willing volunteers with a positive passion for football in Burscough. Nick is currently building a playing squad that he believes will be competitive.

With many thanks to Ged Nolan for the suggestion of a mission statement, “To maintain the club’s ideals founded in 1946 with a family atmosphere, with a ground administered in a sound manner so that BFC can compete at the very highest level of NW non league football.”

Stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you to our new home ground as soon as the construction work is complete.

Sincerely,

Mike

Mike Swift
