He's walked with his family and friends, Presidents and Captains, players and animals, young and old, all of who have shared a drink in the virtual clubhouse bar! Over the last few weeks Roy has been clocking up even more laps to go towards his 75 laps to mark his 75th Birthday. In doing so he has smashed his original goal of a grand and his total currently stands at £3437, which is absolutely fantastic.
He did lap one at Peel Croft on the day we handed our former home over to the new owners. Since then he has been walking at Battlestead Croft to get to his final total of 75.
His final laps are on Sunday 4th October,
Along the way he has shared stories and photos of his time at Burton RFC on Facebook, which we have in turn shared on our Club Facebook Page for everyone to read. Some of the tales are wonderful and take you back in time to things forgotten.
I'm guessing many of you will not know that Roy does his own kidney dialysis at home five times a week, with each one taking about five hours to complete. This makes his 'Grand Tour' even more incredible and just shows what a remarkable man he is. Even with the arrival of COVID-19 restrictions which meant he had to shield, didn't stop his determination to get the job done.
So get in touch if you would like to walk a lap or two with Roy or better still make a donation!
He would really appreciate any donations to his JustGiving page, so please support him if you can.
