The A team welcomed Brodstreet to Peel Croft on a chilly saturday afternoon. After the previous weeks loss, Burton wanted to bounce back and hold onto a top 4 place.
From the kick off, Burton took the early dominance and possession. Strong drives by Mellor and Gemashe took them into the visitors half. George Abel took the ball threw a dummy and grubbered the ball into the corner, he was able to out pace the opposition and touched down for the first score.
Burton 5-0 Broadstreet.
10 minutes later and Burton got there second try, a stroke of luck as a Brodstreet back line move went to ground and was scooped up Josh Lister who ran untouched from the halfway and put down under the posts.
Burton 12-0 Broadstreet.
This was as good as it got for the Crofters, as Broadstreet came back scoring 3 tries through some weak defence and aggressive running.
Half time, Burton 12-17 Broadstreet.
From the restart Broadstreet continued to hammer the Burton line, turnovers and knock ons kept them at bay.
Finally they got over, a powerful run from the second row saw him brush aside some poor tackling to go under the posts.
Burton 12-24 Broadstreet.
Burton were in danger of letting the game get away from them. They regained some control, a few substitutions and they pressed to get back in the game. But the stubborn Brodstreet defence would not cracked.
Eventually from the back of a scrum Lelo Gemashe in his first game back from injury, crashed over the line and gave Burton some hope.
Burton 19-24 Broadstreet.
But it wasn't meant to be, final passes went to ground or into touch and that was it. Not a great day at the office, lots to work on before the next game.
