Wth a star studded side containing veterans Adie Bullock, Declan Bradley, Lee Carter and Ian Baker the Burton B XV took to the field against Uttoxeter with an abundance of players and put on an excellent display of flowing rugby to record an excellent 42-0 victory.
Burton started well and soon showed that they were out to play some festival rugby when after only two minutes Danny Jansic and Gavin Worth combined for the latter to score a try that Jack Handy converted.
Burton’s forward controlled everything with Pete Mason and Baker taking lineout ball at will while the front row of Rich Paupe, Kieran Dadley and Tom Langley took all set piece possession. More tries followed from Baker, Rod Wallis, Worth and Handy, who also converted one of these as Burton steadily, built up a lead of twenty nine points at the halftime.
After the break it was more of the same as Burton continued to pile on the pressure Declan Bradley marked his fortieth birthday with a storming thirty metre run to touch down with a diving flourish to extend Burton’s lead to 34-0. Then Ben Peach showed he wasn’t to be left out of the celebrations as he made a blind side break to race forty metres down the touchline to score in the corner. Handy added a late penalty goal and Burton left the field with an excellent 42-0 victory after a very entertaining game.
