After a morning of rain the afternoon brightened up with some glorious sunshine . After a few late cry offs Burton put out a 16 man strong team . Playing against 20 players traveling down the a50 from Stoke On Trent . This was including 4 players drafted in from Longton's 1st team to help bolster the numbers .
The game started well with some fantastic running and evading skills from Warren Lewis aka The Doc . Scoring on the five minute mark . With Gareth Sutton slotting the ball between the posts . 7-0 to Burton . Next on the score sheet was Eric our scrum half . Again with some clever running to breeze past the standing Stoke defence . Gareth Sutton again slots the ball home to make the score 14-0. Warren took a knock and then was replaced by our only replacement Joe Briggs . Who had been on the field for no more then 10 mins to score his first try of the game . Once again Sutton on fire from a tight angle slipping the posts . Once again some great work from the forwards . The ball worked wide to our winger Jason cox who side stepped 3 defenders to hand of the last man . Making scoring his first try for burton look like child's play .
Half time Burton 26-0
Burton dominated in every scrum all game . Forcing Stoke to change there props 5 times throughout the game . While in the line outs Burton again was in complete control throughout .
4 mins from the restart joe Briggs got his second try . From a great pass from Sutton who took the ball round his body to offload behind his back to confuse the Stoke defence . Sutton again scoring 2 points taking the tally to 33-0.
Again the Burton back shoved Stoke backwards forcing them back into there own try line . Making a simple try for Ian Baker (captain fantastic) to touch the ball down scoring one of his easiest try's yet . Though he injured himself in the process . Sutton once again kicking the conversion making the score 40-0.
He was replaced by warren managing to shake of his earlier knock . The old stalwart Jono Edwards took over as skipper .
Gareth Sutton got his reward In front of his watching wife and children to storm down in between the Stoke defence .
It was then time for Jono Edwards to ghostly stroll through at a gentle pace putting the ball down between the sticks . Sutton converting to make the score 52-0 .
Eric the number 9 scoring his 2nd of the game . With sutton converting again .
On the 77th minute Joe Briggs got his hatrick with a well worked try to leave the Stoke defence standing watching .
The ref blows his whistle final score 64-0
