Burton took on a well drilled Leek side for a friendly fixture. Unusually and for the 2nd week in a row Burton were tight on numbers, fielding a bare 15 with forwards filling in key positions in the backs. This re-jigged side was always up against it and Leeks backs worked overlaps and won the first half well 5 try's to 1. Burton got on the score sheet via Hector after he took a quick tap to barge over for try. 29 v 5.
The 2nd half much closer as Burton played more to their strengths with centers (forwards) running back towards their support and playing good close quarter rugby. 2 try's each in the 2nd half 1 from Steve and the other big Cam (I think).Final score 17 V 39.
Given all the changes I will take that, and I am sure we will be able to give a better account of ourselves next time we meet Leek. On the positive points, a good set piece, great rucking, and improved tackling, however still a way to go in the tackling as some of the try's scored would be described as soft!
A note to Tom H, who after 3 others had a go, we found someone who could drop kick the ball on kick offs!
