Burton v Market Bosworth

Sunday morning saw us travel to Market Bosworth with a depleted team of only 14 due to half term. It was decided by both teams to play a game of 14 aside with both teams choosing not to play the full back position.

The first half saw both teams come out fighting but Market Bosworth had the edge and managed to keep the ball in their half for most of the game. Opportunities for Burton to score were few are far between, however the defence was awesome Market Bosworth hammed the Burton line again and again but failed to cross. Through sheer determination Burton prevented Market Bosworth from scoring in the first half.

The lack of subs and some very tired Burton lads went against us in the second half with Market Bosworth bringing on some fresh legs. Burton continued to fight hard but despite some great tackling Market Bosworth managed to get the ball out down the wing and score their first try. Following some strong team tackling, Hector was injured and left the game with an injured shoulder which left Burton with only 13 lads. The Burton lads never gave up but the size and strength of the Market Bosworth team proved too much and they scored two more trys one of which was converted.

Great credit needs to go to the lads because although we lost, many of the lads played out of position and in our last game against Market Bosworth we lost by 40 points so this was a great improvement. The heart and grit of the team was impressive and not a single player forward or back went missing in action. The lads should be very proud of themselves.
