As the lads entered changing room number 5 at Lichfield the mood was upbeat. The heavy bass line of Prodigy's Firestarter and the lads banter laying the founfation for a great game of rugby.
The warm up was split with forwards and backs being put through their paces in preparation for the game followed by a rousing rally by the coaches to send the lads on their way.
Before the game started, pitches fell silent for a minutes silence to reflect and pay respect to those who have given so much for us all.
The game was underway and Burton were playing down hill in the first half. At first they struggled getting into the ruck and securing pocession, but soon they were finding their way. Some excellent rucking work from Jake enabled the backs to hit the spaces hard passing the ball confidently down the line running in a number of trys.
The second half saw Burton running back up that hill, however it did not cause any issues. As per the first half, Josh and Joe F were industrious in their work allowing Joe C to go on some mazy runs in attack and send Ryan over to score his first try for Burton. George B massively determined in defence chasing down everything, keeping the pressure on the opposition to the end.
Throughout both halves the pack were outstanding, winning their own scrums and nearly all of Lichfield's.
Special mention to Sam for another great impact on the game, leading the way on the tackle count and getting stuck in everywhere!
The lads have yet again raised the bar on their achievements on and off the pitch as they grow from strength to strength. We still have some areas to work on but all agree the team is going massively in the right direction.
Another huge thank you to the travelling support of the parents and siblings, bring on next week!
