The under 13's won their first competitive 15 a side game 46 - 12 with a solid performance that suggests an exciting season may be in store.

Tries: Matthew Evans 2, Josh Hart 2, Calum Launchbury, Connor Wood, William Hulbert, Oliver Corbett

Con: Jamie Dutton 3

Burton started their first competitive game of the season and they were switched on from the start. They were first to the loose ball and began to dominate Nuneaton in the early encounters. The scrum was solid and more than held its own against a big Nuneaton pack. After 5 minutes Burton held their scrum and Oliver C fed Daniel G, and Matt E ran in the first try of the season in the corner. Burton extended their lead after another surge from the forwards, a resulting penalty kick into the corner. Burton secured line out ball via Charlie N and Daniel G was held up 1 metre out, however, Calum L gathered the loose ball and scored the try. Burton continued to press Nuneaton who seemed to have no answer to the quick ball Burton was able to feed the backs with and following another excellent kick from Daniel G, Connor W broke through the defensive line to score and excellent third try. From the next strong Burton scrum, Oliver C fed Josh H who once through the line was never going to be stopped from scoring the fourth try. Nuneaton to their credit never gave up and missed tackles let them in to score a try in the corner. Burton rallied from the set back and scored via another solid scum and fast ball to Josh H, who once more left the Nuneaton defence in his trail. Just before half time Nuneaton looked certain to score once more in the corner, however, John R put his body on the line (injured) and stopped the drive.

The second half gave evidence of Burton's depth of squad as despite several positional changes they maintained forward momentum and increased the lead. Alex D, Josh W and Jack W rucked Nuneaton off the ball and Harry G passed to William H who finished with a straight determined run through the heart of Nuneaton's line. Matthew E added another try shortly afterwards following some tidy work from Josh W from broken play and good hands from Tommy C. Nuneaton replied with a second try following a strong scrum and maul. However, Jamie D secured the ball following another strong Burton ruck and fed Oliver C to complete the scoring in the final minute.

A good mornings rugby and a great start to the season.
