The Tackling Starts!

Despite never having been in this position before, the 19 Burton boys took to the new game like seasoned professionals. With Walsall only having 10 players, the boys had to take turns on the pitch to enable they all had a go.

Tires were scored, tackles made and lots of effort, enthusiasm and smiles on show. Walsall were a strong side who put in lots of tackles, but teamwork, speed and pure grit made sure that the game was enjoyable for both sides. By the end of the game the score if we had counted would have been about 20 all!

The only disappointment for the boys was when the final whistle as they wanted to continue and would still be playing if we had let them! Special mentions must go to Sam and Joe who were awarded tackle of the day and to Alex on his first session this season who got stuck in and proved how tough he was after a hard tackle!

A fantastic first games for the u9's who will only continue to grow though this tough season ahead.

The U9’s have also developed their own rules for the season and as part of this, Lewis Smith developed a poster on what rugby means to him and the team. We have photocopied this to give to our opposition and Walsall took this away with them as a reminder of their trip to Burton!
