Burton were tight on numbers with only 14 players as they traveled north to Paviors, so we had to borrow, never good but fair play to the lads that stepped in they did put their tackles in. Burton went up hill with the wind in the first half but it was a slow start by the visitors who conceded a try in the first 7 minutes after some hard running and build up work by Paviors, who incidentally played a very similar style to Burton. This was converted. Burton fought their way up to the to the top of the hill and following a couple of phases went blind and after some quick hands George A went over for a unconverted try. Paviors scored another unconverted try wide out and they also took a 3 pointer close to half time. Score 15 v 5. Try as they might in the 2nd half thats how the game finished, Burton played well and did have opportunity's to score but the last pass never quite went to hand. No lack of effort or desire, but the final pass's just didn't come off. Things to work on, tactics on penalty's when to go quick and when to take territory, calm heads needed. Also our line out, which in the warm up looks very classy but struggles when put under pressure by opposition, maybe some live line out work against the 1st and A's at training would help on this area? No one went missing in action and all played well however George E takes the plaudits in the backs for his rock solid defence and big Ed Robson in the forwards for taking the game to Paviors every time he got his hands on the ball.
