Bury Bowl hosted Glemsford in the league cup first group game. Bowl trying out a 3-5-2 formation Cope in goal, Barry and Calver at wing back, Lawrence, Hynds, Read at centre half, Smith, Sandry and Olumuyiwa in midfield, Rochford and Mantle up top, Subs Mitchell, Petruska, Candu and Bahvalov. Glemsford started well and took an early lead after some poor defending, the forward hitting home at the near post for 1-0. This became 2-0 half way through from a corner, the Glemsford player scoring from close range. After this Mantle and Olumuyiwa were swapped over to try to win a bit more in the middle. Bowl did come close on a few occasions but didnt really trouble the Glemsford keeper. Glemsford got a third close to half time, it came when Bowl were on the attack, the centre half just getting in front of Rochford, the ball then flew down field and caught us short at the back and the forward finished for 3-0.
HYnds was replaced by Mitchell staert of the second half as Bowl switched to a 4-3-3. It seemed to have made the difference as Mitchell was right in the action winning a couple of early tackles, putting his mark down. Bowl struck after good work form Lawrence and Mantle finding Rochford, he took the ball in his stride and fired home his first of the season 1-3.
Rochford got a second midway through Sandry putting his man on the floor and sending a great ball forward, Rochford was onto iy in a flash and prodded home for 2-3.
All Bowl for a bit after this, Mantle sent a shot from distance into the keepers arms, then Olumuyiwa found his way into the box, jinked left and right and send his shot wide of the post.
Calver was replaced by Bahvalov. Glemsford then went 4-2 up Cope saving the first shot but couldnt do much with the rebound. Bowl made changes with Read and Sandry off for Petruska and Candu. Bowl then scored again a long ball from Cope finding Rochford who chipped the keeper for his third and 3-4.
It was now all out attack for Bowl Lawrence playing as another forward too but Glemsford caught us on the counter in injury time to make it 5-3.
Better than last week and flashes of good football, chances were there. Just a shame we left ourselves too much to do after the first half.
