Heath welcomed our local rivals Oldland to Springfield for this Les Phillips cup tie and came away with a 3-1 win to progress to the next round.
Heath started the game well and were on top for the opening exchanges which saw George Boon causing the visitors problems right from the start, it was his cross that led to the first goal after 11 minutes which Simon McElroy put away with ease.
Ten minutes later Matt Huxley scored one of his specials when looking up to curl a beauty into the top corner from 25 yards to put the Heath 2 up.
Heath created more chances without the finishing touch but were looking the more likely to score.
The second half saw Oldland much the better team for large parts of the half but it was Heath who could have gone further ahead after 60 minutes when a dubious penalty was awarded for a foul on Simon McElroy, Matt Huxley stepped up to unusually fire the ball over the bar and give Oldland a lifeline.
With 65 minutes on the clock Oldland did pull a goal back and it looked as though they could get back into the game but then on a Heath attack Simon McElroy was shoved in the back for what should have been a definite penalty but the referee waved play on, justice served after the first one some people said and rightly so.
With Oldland searching for an equaliser Heath broke to score a third through George Boon on 82 minutes to seal a deserved win but one we had to work hard for.
Well done to Oldland who played some good stuff at times but against a strike pairing of Huxley and McElroy who have already scored 36 goals between them it was always going to be difficult.
We now move onto our third local derby in just 10 days when we travel the short distance to Bitton on Saturday for some league action.
