AEK Boco 0-3 Cadbury Heath

The Heath won 3-0 away at AEK Boco on Thursday night in a game that was bought to an early close on 75 mins by the ref due to fading light.
The Heath lined up with Ollie Jones in goal, Tom Smallman at right back and Loui Ward at left back with Toby Rennie partnered in central defence with Ollie Price. Brad Abraham (great to see him back) was in central midfield with Ali Bamford with Liam Oswin wide right and Jake Thomas on the left. Matt Huxley was upfront alongside Simon McElroy. On the bench for the Heath was Trey Anderson, Eugene Keary, George Boon, Luke Bryan, Tom Welling and Sam Crumb and all came on in the 2nd half. A good game where both sides played decent football and credit to AEK Boco who competed well in the first half with a strong looking Heath side that knocked the ball around well and created some good chances. The Heath took a relatively wary lead when in the 13th minute some good play on the right resulted in a bass across the box to Matt Huxley who finished well into the bottom corner. Neither side could carve out any clear cut chances after that goal but the rest of the first half was competitive, Jake Thomas had a long range effort tipped over the bar by the Boco keeper on halftime. The second half was a slightly different story as Heath came out all guns blazing and dominated the first 25 mins of the 2nd half going close on numerous occasions from Luke Bryan, Sam Crumb twice, Eugene Keary and Trey Anderson (with a spectacular header that went over from 3 yards out!). But in 65 mins the impressive Sam Crumb made it 2-0 to the Heath with a worldie, the ball was played into him in the middle of the Boco half and he turned his man and unleashed a fierce drive into the top corner from 30 yards - a stunning strike. The Heath then extended our lead in the 70th minute when the ball was worked across the Boco penalty area to find George Boon on the right hand side of the box who beat his man and drilled low with his right (RIGHT!) foot into the far corner making it 3-0. There was just enough time before the ref blew up early in the 75th minute for the Heath to be awarded a penalty in the 74th minute and Loui Ward steppes uk to take it, the penalty was a hell of a strike but crashed into the bottom of the post and back out into play. 3-0 it remained when the game was over early due to fading light. Another good run out for the lads in a strong performance all round. MOTM for me was Sam Crumb, not only for that strike but looked a real handful when he came on and worked hard off the ball. All the best to AEK Boco for the season, looks like they have a decent side for the season ahead. Next up is Chippenham Town U18’s away on Sat 22nd Aug. The game will be played at Beversbrook Sports Ground, Calne, SN11 9FL with a 3pm kick off.
