MATCH REPORT
TUESDAY 12TH AUGUST
BRISLINGTON 2 – 1 CADBURY HEATH
Heath travelled the short distance to Brislington full of confidence after a good win at the weekend, but it was the home side that came out of the blocks first and looked much the stronger side in the opening 15- 20 minutes.
Heath then began to get themselves back into the game and were themselves starting to cause some problems for the home defence.
Just when it looked as though the Heath would go into the interval all square Brislington took the lead when the Heath defence were caught napping.
As most in the crowd thought this game was far from over and the Heath came out for the second half looking to put the home defence under pressure.
Sacha Tong, Jack Camm and Matt Huxley had chances but failed in their attempts to hit the target, but as the game wore on Heath were looking more dangerous with Wayne Pearce creating all sorts of problems for the home defence.
And it was Pearce, who brought Heath level on 65 minutes when he finished well after a good run.
Heath were on top now and looking to take all three points and that looked likely after Sacha Tong burst into the box leaving the home defender with no option to body check him off the ball as he was about to shoot.
Most people in the ground thought penalty, but the referee for some reason had different ideas and gave a goal kick.
As the game was drawing to a close with both teams fairly happy with their nights work the referee awarded Brislington a 92 minute penalty.
This was duly despatched to give the home side a win and three points.
It was without doubt a huge kick in the teeth for a Heath side who without question deserved something from this very competitive game.
