MATCH REPORT
SATURDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2014
SLIMBRIDGE 2-1 CADBURY HEATH
Heath travelled to short distance to Slimbridge knowing this was going to be a tough ask with so many players missing through injury and unavailability.
There were even players playing that really shouldn’t have because we were that short on the ground.
Slimbridge started the game very brightly and were much the better side in the opening stages causing Heath all sorts of problems and on 25 minutes they took a deserved lead.
Heath were battling hard to stay in the game and to their credit held out until half time with just the one goal deficit, which was a bonus because with better finishing Slimbridge could have been out of sight.
The second half was somewhat a different story with Heath looking much brighter and starting to move the ball around a lot better.
Matt Huxley was fed a through ball that left him one on one with the keeper but unusually he didn’t hit the back of the net and the keeper made a decent stop.
Heath kept pressing and just as it looked as though they may be able to haul themselves back into the game Slimbridge broke and scored with a good finish to go two up.
With fifteen minutes remaining Heath got a deserved goal for their efforts when Tudor Alexander scored his first goal for the club.
Heath continued to try to get themselves level but Slimbridge held firm and ended up taking the three points.
All in all we can’t complain, as Slimbridge were better than us on the day.
