The Rhinos started in fifth gear on Saturday as they raced in to an early lead when Alex Speakman's long ball found Josh Williams who burst through and offloaded to Luke Connor in support to score the opening try. Josh Grundy landed the conversion and the Rhinos were 6-0 up after 10 minutes.

Chester were playing some good rugby themselves though and it was not all one way traffic with some good defence by Shea Skillicorn, Luke Connor and Matty Sloan keeping them out.

The Gladiators were proving difficult to breakdown and it was a scoot from Jack Callaghan who then found man of the match Josh Grundy that finally caught them out on 29 minutes as he scored and then converted his own try.

Just before the break Niall Anderson burst on to a Danny Royle pass to score under the posts and Grundy once again added the extras taking the half time score to 18-0.

The Rhinos extended their lead just after the interval with a well worked try from Alex Speakman.

Chester hit back on 46 minutes following some good play to take the score to 22-6.

On 63 minutes Alex Speakman's pass found Nathan Vernon out wide to score in the corner and Josh Grundy banged over the conversion.

The Rhinos were now in full control and Niall Anderson found Alex Speakman in support to grab his second try of the afternoon and Grundy once again converted.

Next up was Danny Royle who turned the ball back inside to hit Josh Grundy on a blast as he also grabbed his second try and his conversion took the score to 40-6.

The final minutes saw a great individual try from Luke Connor who sidestepped his way through the Gladiators defence and Josh Grundy's conversion took the final score to 46-6.
