No joy for Rhinos at Seaside
By Paul Elliott
The Rhinos lost 44-26 away at Blackpool on Saturday
A poor start saw the Rhinos trail 10-0 after 8 minutes following some sloppy defending.
The Rhinos finally got some possession and Jack Callaghan, Matty Sloan and Josh Grundy began to take control.
Brad White took advantage of the good work from the forwards as he dribbled the ball through to score and Alex Speakman converted.
Shortly afterwards another kick through from Alex Speakman was collected by centre Josh Williams who's try levelled the scores.
The Scorpions looked shell shocked and Ben Connor's try on 21 minutes put the Rhinos ahead at 14-10.
With the Rhinos looking in control a break away try from the Scorpions saw the score beneath the post for a converted try to regain a 16-14 lead and worse still Niall Anderson was sent to the sin bin.
Whilst down to 12 men Blackpool capitalised with 2 quick tries before the break giving them a 26-14 lead.
Just after half time some fortune saw the Seasiders score from a kick to extend their lead to 30-14.
Back on the field Niall Anderson bulldozed his way over to score and Alex Speakman added the conversion however Blackpool hit straight back extending their lead to 34-20.
Nathan Vernon then collected a pass off his toes to dive over and score and Alex Speakman converted again to take the score to 34-26.
With 10 minutes to go the game was still in the balance however the last 5 minutes saw the Scorpions finish strongly with 2 quick tries to seal a 44-26 win and leap frog the Rhinos to top spot in the league table
