Cobra 32 v 3 Rhyl

It was a scrappy opening 20 minutes with Rhyl very pumped up for the match. After several infringements at the breakdown area Rhyl were reduced to 14 men with one of their back row players given a yellow card and sent to the sin bin. From the resulting penalty Lloyd Mayor kicked a penalty to give Cobra a 3-0 lead. Cobra put a lot of pressure on Rhyl and played the majority of the first half in their half of the pitch. Cobra's dominance started to take its toll and we disrupted their scrums and lineouts. After several carries by the forwards the referee awarded us another penalty which was taken quickly by fly half Lloyd mayor who scored under the posts. He also converted the try, 10-0 at half time. In the second half Cobra played most of the match in their half and dominated possession and territory. From a driving lineout hooker Steven Isaac crashed over the line from close range to score his 4th try in as many matches. After a scrum on the Rhyl 5 metre line and a few phases the ball made its way to Lloyd Mayor who found a gap and dived over the line to score his second of the match. The 4th and crucial bonus point try was scored by flanker Lloyd Bright who took a quick tap penalty 5 metres out and reached for the line to score. The final try was a big effort by the forward pack and front row. After a scrums around 8 metres from the line Cobra pushed Rhyl back over their own line. They had no choice but to collapse it illegally and the referee awarded a penalty try which is now an automatic 7 points. So a hard fought win in tough conditions.
