3. CDP. Playing Development



• Develop a playing structure to ensure the various elements of the club - senior, youth, minis –micro continue to thrive.
• Ensure opportunities to play for all players of all abilities
• Ensure that fixtures are appropriate to the ability of the individual teams at all levels through the club.
• Build “Fair Play” (Bill MacLaren Foundation & Positive Coaching Scotland) into the Youth Section training programme. “Most Consistent Player” award on match days and end of season awards to “most improved” players, plus other club awards and not simply the “best” players.
• End of season senior playing awards to include “best young player”.
• Build appropriate competitive opportunities at all levels. Juniors play matches on a friendly and Festival competitions basis, The Youth teams playing on a friendly and Caledonia League structure and engage in Cup competitions.
The aim for the First Team is the top position in Caledonian Div 1
• Provide appropriate coaching for all levels
• Ensure the club’s rugby year, fixtures etc. take account of the SRU structured season to provide coaching opportunities for elite performers (county trials/development days etc.).
• Develop playing pathways – critical paths for players to progress through the club structure. Plus Academy Schemes to be investigated, with and established flow through to Senior Rugby.
• Identify high performing junior players and give them the opportunity to train and play to the best of their ability and in the most competitive environment as possible subject to current SRU guidelines on age grading.
