All domestic hockey suspended

Covid 19 update

On Friday 13th March, Scottish Hockey issued this instruction to all hockey clubs.

"Scottish Hockey has taken the decision to suspend all domestic hockey from 00:01 on 14 March 2020 until further notice. This includes friendly matches and training sessions.

Following consultation with clubs, and in light of facilities closure and teams self-isolating, the decision has been made in the interests of the health and safety of players, match officials, and staff.

In this fast-moving environment, further updates will be provided when appropriate."

The Management Committee of the club reviewed the instruction and implemented it, paying particular attention to the phrase "in the interests of the health and safety of".

Edinburgh Hockey Club has our members' and supporters' welfare at the heart of everything we do. Welfare will continue to be at the forefront of our minds as we consider future guidance from Scottish Hockey. We'll update the website as and when we get further information.

On a personal note, I'd like to thank members for the positive attitude they have taken to this instruction. I'd also like to express the hope on behalf of the Club, that you and yours avoid any serious impact from the pandemic and we are all back on pitch smiling and enjoying ourselves as quickly as safely possible.
