This was a bit of a difficult match for us. A number of us were forced to play out of position and in unfamiliar combinations due to the large number of players not previously in the squad, and as Tasos opted to trial a 3-4-3 formation.
The women who played for us did very well, even if they did note that some of the 6 foot plus male players on the Inverleith team could accelerate towards a loose ball faster than an Essex girl to free prosecco. I'd still suggest we stock up on false beards for those weeks where we're scratching around for players though.
Cala showed some promise up front, with Cuan and Jack finding the back of the net, although defensively we clearly need to sharpen up; we need to get as good at tracking back as the Royal Mail or we're quickly going to find ourselves 'returned to sender' in East District 2. We did find a bit of rhythm at the beginning of the second half, but sadly the game got called off before we could make it pay.
The main negative from the game was obviously the factor that resulted in the match being called off - Tasos decided he wanted a couple of women in uniform, so engineered an ambulance call out!
With a good number of friendlies to come before the season kicks off, we will look to improve week by week and get ready to make an impression on division 1.
