So a 10.45 ko became an 11.05 ko as the ref was late. Blaming a team from his previous game for turning up late. Not ours or Westwoods fault so why were we the ones to be penalised ?
Anyway it was another big pitch and neither side really came to grips with it. It was 5 minutes down one end followed by 5 minutes down the other. We were awarded a penalty in the dying moments which Matthew converted to put us ahead at the break.
Westwood came at us aggressively in the 2nd half and this also was shown on the sidelines. When the referee failed to award a free kick one of the home players decided to take his own action with a scissor tackle followed by pushing one of our players in the chest with both hands. While on the sidelines the parents thought it was fine to shout at the referee rather than teach their players about discipline. No action taken against the player which then led to yet another poor tackle moments later which finally resulted in a card. Sadly the home coach was the opposite side of the pitch having to run the line because none of their parents appear to want to do with it.
Westwood grabbed an equaliser when a corner was forced home and in truth neither side really deserved to win the game.
So 2 months into the season and we remain unbeaten and have stood up to various challenges so far. 2 big games to come over the next fortnight.
