Endean heroics not enough for Camborne

On a soft but drying wicket Camborne elected to bowl against Newquay hoping for a tight start. However Newquay openers Joe Crane(32) and Tom Eggins(53) shared an opening stand of 85 of just 14 overs. Fresh from his singing delights the week before, Nigel Endean was brought into the attack and immediately turned the game in Cambornes favour bowling an excellent spell 5-27 from 10 overs to leave Newquay 108-6 at the halfway point. The use of the downhill slope was a pleasure to watch. Newquay were bowled out for 135 after spinner Sage Masher cleaned up the tail taking the last 4 cheap wickets. Callan Jenkin was left unbeaten on 26.
Chasing, openers King & Roberts added 28 before 4 quick wickets fell to leave Camborne on 35-4 with seamer Alex Bicknell claiming 3-16 from his opening 10 overs. Simon Hosking(24) & Jordan Harvey(23) boosted the score to 83 before Harvey was caught & bowled. As the drizzle came in, Camborne edged their way towards the target before Hosking was LBW for the 82nd time of his career as Camborne lost their last 5 wickets for 14 runs for a 2nd successive frustrating defeat. Joe Crane(4-15) picked up late wickets.
The roskear side ended with 7 points and slipped to 2nd in County one, and are looking for a reaction this coming Saturday when Gorran are the visitors.
