Pooley plots Werrington downfall

Camborne made their longest away trip to a drizzly Werrington on Saturday to take on their 2nd eleven, Camborne were put into bat and made a steady start to be 99-3 at the halfway point with Kevin Roberts making a comfortable looking 54 that included 10 fours. Decent sized partnerships for the rest of the innings boosted the score to 226-5 off 49 overs after an over had been lost to rain. Sam Pooley held the innings together finishing on 79 not out from 77 balls. Opening bowler Daniel Barnard ended with the best figures of 2-36.
Chasing their target, Werrington lost regular wickets to stutter to 76-5 with Nicolas Adams making 35, Daniel Hocking(2-54) & Ryan Downing(3-41) did the early damage with the ball before it looked likely the game was close to being abandoned as dark clouds gathered, the rain held off though and Werrington recovered to 169-6(Mark Hodgson-35, Daniel Warring-34, Ian Searle-23) and the game was in the balance before Sam Pooley(3-26) took 2 crucial wickets, Sage Masher took the last 2 wickets with boundary catches to give Camborne a 39 run victory, leaving them 2nd in county one, 3 points behind leaders Wadebridge.
