Camborne RFC Cap

Camborne RFC Cap

Jeff Nicholas11 Sep 2023 - 20:18

Opportunity for former players to purchase club cap.

Camborne RFC Club Caps

The Vets Committee have been hard at work and are pleased to announce an exciting new initiative for former players. The highlight of any players career was getting your first senior 'cap' for town.
The cap was only theoretical but this was not always the case. Up until the war there was the physically presentation of a cap to the player and in recent years a cap has been reintroduced for players reaching a special milestone for 100 Senior League caps.
For any player who played after the war until the 2020s there was no opportunity to receive a Camborne cap but that has all changed.

The Vets Committee have been working on a project to allow former players to apply and purchase a Camborne cap.
The cap comes in a presentation case with a citation and the cap itself is based on the original pre war cap and will come embroidered with your initials and surname and the season in which you made your senior debut (in any senior team).
See attached pictures.

The initiative was launched on Saturday at the Redruth game with a presentation by Andy Gill (club Chairman) the first cap to John Collins, a Camborne legend and it's only England international who amazingly had never received a Camborne cap. The second cap was presented to Anthony 'Chippy' Chapman in recognition of both his support in particular of the Vets but also of the wider club.
