Alongside the new ‘Memorial Ground’ and modern changing facilities is a proposal to create a “Commemorative Memorial Walk” which would provide a link between the two existing public rights of way in the area.

Early ideas for this aspect are in the illustration attached.

The concept of this Memorial Walk is to provide a peaceful link path which is accessible for all to use and that will enhance public awareness and appreciation of the sacrifices of former CSM students in the Boer & World Wars.
This alongside the new pitch & facilities will ensure that the CSM Trust is able to continue to provide a visible and substantial memorial to all those former CSM students that gave their lives in these conflicts.
The Chairman of the CSM Trust, Peter Whitbread-Abrutat, said that ‘the CSM Trust has been leasing the CSM Memorial Ground to Camborne Rugby Club for many years and appreciates that the current location has several limitations, which the proposed new site will effectively address.
What is important for the CSM Trust is that the new site, as well as providing an improved sporting facility, will remain as the ‘CSM Memorial Ground’ with permanent recognition given to all those from CSM who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Boer and World Wars.’
Camborne RFC’s President Bill Hussey commented ‘as we look forward, as a high profile, all inclusive, community-based rugby club, we need to ensure that any replacement playing facility will be “future proof” and that it will meet the demands of the RFU, the CSM Trust and the needs of the Club & rugby community.’
Bill added ‘we believe that the proposal offers a common sense and unique opportunity to provide the Club with easily accessible, new and appropriate modern facilities together with the possibility to improve and strengthen our administration, maintenance, service and security functions.
