Last game of 2016 at the REC for Sam.
Saturday see's Camborne renew rivalries with the All Whites of Newton Abbot in another Cornwall v Devon derby encounter at the REC (3pm k.o).
The match also marks the last home match of 2016 for Cornwall and National 3's best number 7 Sam Matavesi as he heads off for his10 weeks basic training with the Royal Navy.
The Fijian International has helped the Cherry & Whites to a fantastic start in their return to National League rugby and has been a inspirational captain leading by example. Sam has racked up an incredible 22 tries in his last 15 appearances for the team and will be looking to add to his 7 so far this season before he signs off. The Cherry & Whites are hoping to see Sam return to the team for mid January. In the meantime with Cornwall back 5 forward Tony Whittle returning to join James Goldsworthy, Brad Howe and Cameron Bone Camborne will still have an abundance of quality back rowers to choose from.
Selectors have made 4 changes to the squad, 2 starting and 2 on the replacements bench. With Roko suspended following his red card Ben Drew moves from full back to wing, Richie Kevern reverts to full back and Joel Matavesi returns to the centre. In the pack prop Malcolm Hearn comes in for Andrius Zacharovas as Town continue to rotate their front row.
Dave Roberts and Tommy Lee-Southworth come in on the bench with Tom Townsend and Leigh Hocking making way.
The club are also expecting to see a good sized crowd at the REC, keeping up the average attendance of 500+ per match. With the team playing such attracive rugby and averaging over 44 points at home it's no wonder people are turning out in good numbers to watch them.
This week we are fortunate to have two match Sponsors; JDS Property & Development who've supported the club well for several seasons and Edmundson Electrical who will be receiving our 'Matchday Hospitality' for the first time. Edmundson's are a large National Electrical Wholesaler with over 250 branches throughout the U.K and we have the pleasure of hosting the Barncoose branch. We hope they thoroughly enjoy their day at the REC and it becomes the first of many.
We would also like to thanks our 'Man of the Match' Sponsors 'Scrummages Caterers', the Cherry & Whites caterers are fast gaining a superb reputations for the quality function catering and we are delighted to have them on board.
