Late Decision Denies First Point of Season

After the opening week's defeat, Ambassadors returned to the scene of their final league game of last season, looking to open their account of league points.

The team was shuffled a little, with Adam Wright starting at centre back, John Birch as the target man up front, Dave Osbourn making his debut in goal, and Nathan Cuthbert making his debut out wide.

The side put in a much improved performance this week, with the plan of playing a high defensive line looking increasingly effective and better implementedas the game wore on. On the down side, chances in front of goal were fewer than we would like, so still plenty of work to do.

Despite the high temperatures, the side put in a good deal of work, which went harshly without reward when the referee awarded a late penalty against Jack, for a tackle which took place outside of the box. Dave Osbourn was unlucky not to save the penalty, getting a hand to the ball, but unable to keep it out.

Positive signs to take from the game, with a better shape around a lot of our defensive work. Need to now combine that with more creativity and composure when in possession of the ball.
