After a convincing win against Fulbourn we travelled to Orwell - possibly the smallest pitch in any league and the weather was more blowy than a night out with AG.
Team: Shaun, Steve, Andy ©, Wayne, Matt, Daz (1), Jamie, Andre, Brad (2), Jordan, Rickie
Subs: James, Elliot, Guy, Alex
We played against the wind first half, a bit of a scrappy game all the action in the midfield as we went to a 4-5-1 after Andre limped off with knee ligament injury, hopefully to return around Christmas time which is bad news for the press boys. With this change we thought we could see out the first half, Brad, however, had second thoughts after controlling a meaty chest pass from Jordie swivelled and stuck it top corner from twenty yards; he said he thought he was offside…we know him better than that!!
Second half got under way and by now we were dominating the game and using the wind to our advantage. Our second goal came from a Jamie corner, and as he whipped it in from 20 yards! Daz out muscled and lost his marker to head home from the edge of the six yard box, he doesn’t miss those except for one in the first half…after that we totally bossed the game, Orwell only creating one clear chance that Shaun saved with his feet probably the only thing he had to do!
With the game nearing conclusion Orwell had a corner, we broke on the counter attack, Brad mugged the centre back and as the keeper approached he coolly chipped him from the edge of the box….great finish he doesn’t miss those except a one-on-one ten minutes earlier! He was offside though!
Wayne also picked up an injury after deciding to head butt their striker and needed his head to be glued…but all round a good team performance!
Jose comes back for our next game away to Paxton, I bet he scores 5…
