Camelot RFC Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable Adults Policy

Hemel Hempstead (Camelot) RUFC, (the Club) is committed to ensuring that Players of all ages enjoy their participation in the sport of Rugby within a safe and secure environment. The Club is conscious of the trust placed in it by Parents and Carers alike to ensure that it coaches all playing members in a responsible and caring manner.

All coaches, parent helpers, officers, volunteers and paid employees involved in the administration of the Club having regular contact with young people will be Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked by the Rugby Football Union (RFU). All coaches will be made aware of how to spot possible Child Protection issues and the reporting procedure as part of their Coaching training.

The Club's Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is based on the RFU Safeguarding Policy, Guidelines and Procedures. The Policy is designed to outline Best Practice for coaches, players and parents alike and is reviewed regularly. The full RFU policy can be viewed/downloaded HERE or by visiting the RFU's website.

• Coaches will undertake good practice training as part of their Coaching training.
• Codes of Conduct for Coaches, Players, Parents and Carers will be drawn up and regularly reviewed and updated if necessary.
• Possible Child Protection issues must be reported to either the Clubs Safeguarding Officer, Director's of Mini & Youth Rugby or a member of the Club's Executive Committee at the earliest opportunity.
• Child Protection issues will be reported to the relevant authorities through the correct channels according to RFU guidelines.
• Child Protection issues that involve members of the Club will be the subject of disciplinary action according to the Club's Constitution.
• Coaches will be asked to acknowledge receipt of the Child Protection Policy and Codes of Conduct for Coaches.

Safeguarding Officer

The Club will appointed a Safeguarding Officer (SO) and Assistant Safeguarding Officer (ASO) who will receive appropriate training to act as the point of reference for matters relating to Child Protection in as much as it covers the health, safety and welfare of children and vulnerable adults within the Club. Additionally the SO will, with the assistance of the ASO and others, oversee the wider welfare issues of children and vulnerable adults whilst on the Club's premises, participating in training or representing the Club at other venues.
