Lots going on this week with announcements from the Government and the RFU – we thought it would be good to give all our members a full update.

The Executive Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for their support over the last few months in helping the club reopen and remain open and in supporting us by complying with the evolving guidance.

So, lets bring you all up to speed with what’s been going on at Camelot and rugby at large.

Coffee’s back!

Camelot have used the recent down time to begin renovation to the kitchen. This has meant that for the last two weeks we have been unable to serve coffees on a Sunday morning. We are delighted to be able to announce a partnership between Camelot and Black Cactus Coffee!

From this Sunday morning, teas and coffees will be available from the back-bar, courtesy of our very own 1st XV Barista, Matt Kears. This will be a take-a-way only service so people can queue and will be available from 09:30 – 11:45.

Please wear masks on entry, whilst queuing, and exit.

You spoke, we listened – its fixed!

Rugby & COVID

We learned this week from the RFU, that a return to a full fixtures schedule may not happen until January. The good news is that we remain at phase D on the RFU’s return to rugby pathway and have not regressed to stage C or lower. The club is actively working to capitalise on all aspects of Stage D, including intraclub and local fixtures under the Ready4Rguby rules.

You can read the full RFU article HERE.

Club Chairman, Nick Hoyes, shares his thoughts HERE on these announcements.

Keep training, keep up the skill and fitness levels and keep the faith, Rugby will return!

The Bar & Clubhouse

Following Tuesday’s announcement, we have had to make some slight changes to how we manage the bars and club house. What was previously “guidance” is now law and we must adhere to these changes at Camelot if we are to remain open.

The changes…

  • No mask – no entry.
  • Table service only – please wait by the host station to be seated
  • Sorry, no table, no service | The patio wall is not a table
  • As above – coffees (09:30 – 11:45) – take-away service only. Back bar.

Bar Opening Times

The bar will be open as follows:

Thursday 7pm – 9:30pm (no change)
Friday 4:30pm – 9:45pm (last orders 9:30pm)
Saturday 4.30pm – 9:45pm (last orders 9:30pm)
Sunday* 12pm – 4pm (last orders 3:30pm)
*Coffee – 09:30 – 11:45 (back bar)

Closed – Mon – Wed.

How can you help?

The recent announcements have generated a lot of activity and questions. One of which is what else members could do to help ensure Camelot keeps going throughout this.
Aside from helping the club ensures it remains compliant with the new Govt. stipulations, here are six ways our members can help:

  • Pay your subs. The club has taken the benevolent position of inviting every member, regardless of whether they play or not, to pay social subs of £35, see HERE. Please expect a balancing payment in the next two months for those who are actively involved in training/ playing.
  • Please join the Camelot 2000 Club– the Club Lottery. Click HERE for further information.
  • Volunteer. There are too many responsibilities falling on too few shoulders which under the circumstances is not healthy. Click HERE for information for the list of vacant volunteer roles or alternatively speak to one of the committee.
  • Sponsor. Many of our members own or are involved in local or regional businesses who may well be in a position to sponsor the club. We can offer a range of sponsorship options. For further information please email commercial@camelotrfc.co.uk .
  • Visit the club shop. The Club Shop sells an extensive product range of teamwear, leisurewear and Camelot branded merchandise suitable for players of all ages, parents, and spectators. Please click HERE for further information, opening times and price list.
  • Visit the bar. Help keep our coffers healthy by popping by for a drink or two!

We look forward to seeing you at Camelot soon.
