Out muscled

Our second league game brought Enfield over to Chaulden Lane, a team we've never played before. We started in buoyant mood, but within the first 5 mins we got sucked in on the left wing and they played it nicely round the side of us, and after a couple of missed tackles on what was their danger man, he crossed over. That was quickly followed by a nicely placed kick into the left corner by Enfield, a good chase, and a bit of mix up from our side for number 2.

They could tackle as a team, move the ball well, and had some big strong boys who put it about, but we started to settle and really compete. Soli and Mason in the middle were working really well in the tackle and ruck, but our handling was letting us down at crucial moments so it was hard to pick up any real momentum. We were looking reasonably solid in defence, but it was proving hard to make real yards. We then lost Zak to a head injury and Enfield went up the middle and bulldozered through for a third. It was alot more even than the scoreline suggested, but they were capitalising on our mistakes. We very nearly picked up a quick breakaway try when Austin at pace intercepted a pass to run the length of the pitch and cross, but it was called up for offside. We went into the break 3 down.

The second half didn't start well, Will also had to go off with injury so we were dropping like flies, and Enfield took advantage and finished a nice move in the corner. For the next 10 mins we took the fight to them, Alfie with some crashing runs, Noah and Jack with some big tackles and Soli was a one man rucking machine. We just needed to get in and rip that ball out quicker.

We then started to tire and Enfield crossed a couple more times to make it 30-0. All in all, it could and should of been alot closer, but a mixture of alot of muscle, nice movement of the ball and strong tackling, forced us into alot of mistakes, and Enfield took advantage.

Player of the week was Soli, as he really took the fight to them and did everything at a really high level, most improved was Nathan after a solid 2nd half scrum half display.
