Teams D, E and F step forward please

Chesham brought one team along to Chaulden Lane to take on Camelot X and Y teams on a bright morning in very dry, almost hard ground, conditions.

Team X got off to a good start with some early domination, quickly taking the lead when Sam picked up the ball to drive over the line for the opening score. That lead was soon doubled when a good team move ended with Edward in space to cross the line for 2-0.

The team was now in total command, James I driving over the line for 3-0 before Seb created his own space to make it 4 before the interval.

The second-half was much more even with Chesham enjoying more pressure. Early in the half they had a drive for the line that looked as though they must score, but Camelot defended well holding them back before winning the ball back on their own try line...That in itself was impressive, but they then set off on a passing move all the way up the length of the field, passing into space, popping the ball out at the right moment and when Edward crossed the line to score it was greeted by great applause from both sets of parents - a contender for try of the season.

Chesham responded well, getting their first score of the game, but then a good pass out from Seb found Edward in space who broke through to score his third of the match. The scoring was completed by another superb try, this time an individual effort as Thomas ran through the entire Chesham team to make the final score 7-1.

FT: Camelot X 7-1 Chesham
Tries: Edward 3, Sam, James I, Seb, Thomas

Team Y came up against a Chesham side that appeared to have leaned a lot from their first match, and looked much sharper and more alert...but there was nothing they could do when James N sprinted for the line to get Camelot off to another excellent start.

Chesham responded well and deservedly equalised moments later, only for Camelot to restore the lead with a well-worked move from the scrum that found Freddie darting towards the corner unchallenged. 2-1 at the interval.

Camelot started the second-half much the livelier, a good pass out wide found James N in space to run and score in the corner, a feat he repeated just moments later when the Chesham defence just had no answer to his pace. 4-1.

A good Chesham move from a free-kick caught Camelot napping to pull one back, but then came an excellent passing move involving Ollie and Conor E which ended with the ball popped out to Caloan to drive over the line to make it 5-2.

Chesham pulled one back with another good move, this time from a scrum, but they never really looked like getting back into the match as Camelot saw out the game to the final whistle.

FT: Camelot Y 5-3 Chesham
Tries: James N 3, Freddie Caolan
