Hemel Hempstead (Camelot) RUFC are delighted to announce that the inaugural match of the Tim Bonfield "Rugby4All Cup" will be held at Chaulden Lane between Camelot "Merlins" 3rd XV and Berkhamsted RUFC 1st XV on the evening of Friday June 1st with a 19:30 kick off under the floodlights on the 1st XV pitch.

The brainchild of Berkhamsted's Tim Brickle, who wanted to celebrate the fact that many of the current Berkhamsted and Camelot players learned and developed their rugby under the mentorship of Tim Bonfield, it is hoped that this trophy will become an annual affair and continue to encapsulate the spirit and values which Tim inspired in so many generations of talented young players. For those of us that know Tim well, we know that he stands for a sense of fair play, for inclusivity rather than exclusion and that he has worked tirelessly to encourage players of all ability, backgrounds and ages, young and old to enjoy the camaraderie and spirit of the game and to above all have fun!

To take those values into a playing environment, this match will have a number of unique aspects, namely:

1. A minimum of 3 players in each squad should be brand new to rugby this season
2. A maximum of 3 veteran players may be included in the squad (A veteran is defined as a player over the age of 35 who has not played for one of the competitive league teams this season)
3. As Camelot play two sides at a significantly higher standard than Berkhamsted or Camelot 3rd XV, they may play no regular 1st XV squad members in this match and no more than 3, 2nd XV players.
4. Squad sizes limited to 25 with rolling substitutions.

Event organisers are currently working with coaches in the minis and youth sections to see whether this event can provide an opportunity to hold demonstration games ahead of the cup game - further information tbc..
