Cammell Laird 1907 FC have received the resignation of First Team Manager Andy Cass.
Assistant Manager Joe Sephton and Coaches Jake Cripps and Ricci Neill have also left the club.
The club would like to express its gratitude to Andy and his backroom team for their dedication and efforts during their time at the helm, and they leave with our best wishes for the future.
Cass departs after nearly 18 months in the role, during which time he successfully stabilised the club’s league position in the North West Counties Football League First Division South and won the Wirral Senior Cup.
He was appointed in May 2023 and assembled a strong side which performed well during the 2023/24 campaign and was unfortunate not to finish higher than 13th place in a very competitive division. The season was capped off by lifting the Wirral Senior Cup.
After an encouraging pre-season, Lairds made an extremely positive start to the 2024/25 campaign and won 13 points from the first 15 available. However, that has been followed by a difficult winless run in the league - not helped by injuries to key players - which has seen Lairds slip to 13th place.
Taking charge of Saturday’s league fixture at Wolverhampton Sporting Community will be First Team Captain Ryan Smith and Ben Graham, supported by Coach Jack Sharpe, for which the club is hugely appreciative.
A further update will be provided in due course on plans for the next permanent First Team Manager.
