An excellent game between two contrasting but well matched teams ended in a narrow victory for the home side.
Camps were totally dominant in the forwards whilst Salts, unable to compete in that area ran the ball at every opportunity.
The home side were quick out of the blocks and in front after only 5 minutes. A long kick ahead from by Barney Edwards was chased down by Jordan Oliver who was forced into touch near the Old Salts line. The danger was not over for the home side as the first of many line out steals was driven over and touched down by second row Dan O’Grady. Barney Edwards added the conversion.

By the 10th minute Camps had doubled their lead with an even more impressive drive from a line out of their own. The home side mauled the ball for over 20 yards over the Old Salts line for Number 8 Rob Hill to score.

Barney again kicked the conversion and added a penalty shortly afterwards to stretch the Camp Hill lead to 17 points.
Old Salts hit back quickly when a break from fly half Beaty sent former Camp Hill player Luke Loveridge over for a try under the posts. Then, after missing two kickable penalty chances they reduced the lead to 5 points just before half time when left wing Tom Burrows scored in the corner.

Camps started the second half as they had the first and excellent work by Rob Hill and Mark Lisle forced Salts into conceding another penalty. The home pack elected to scrum rather than kick the points and another infringement saw the Salts hooker receive a yellow card.

Inevitably, Camps elected to scrum again and drove the visitors back over the line for Rob Hill to touch down his second try.
The number 8 then recorded a hat trick with an identical effort as the home pack again forced the visitors over their own line.
At 27-12 it looked comfortable for the home side but, unable to secure any set piece ball, Old Salts threw the ball around at every opportunity and were rewarded with two further tries from winger Burrows and replacement Pete Harris, the first of which was converted by Beaty.

With 3 points the margin and time expired Salts continued to throw the ball around seeking a final score but the game ended in fitting style when, in a game dominated by the home forwards, Camps prop Jan-Erik Anderson forced a knock on with a crunching tackle.
