Not a good Day at The Office !

After three league wins in the last four games Camps were brought down to earth with a bump by a determined Stafford team fighting against relegation.

In truth, this was probably Camps worst display of the season and the first time in league games that they have failed to score double figures.

They were unable to take advantage of the wind in their favour in the first half and the only opportunity created, a penalty, was missed by Barney Edwards.

An ill-disciplined performance was not helped by both halfbacks, Liam Morrissy and Alex Richmond, being injured in the first half causing constant reorganisation of the back line.

A penalty conceded in their own 22 allowed Stafford to take a 3 point lead and then a further penalty led to a line out from which the Stafford number 8 broke away and fed inside for a score under the posts. The conversion was missed.

Shortly before half time Camps problems increased when full back Matt Clarke was sent to the sin bin.

Despite being a man down and having two colts, Tom Smith and debutant Sam Hartley on the wings, Camps were far more positive in the second half.

They were unable to turn possession into points, however, and with George Wilkinson, filling in at scrum half, in the bin for a late hit, Camps took the wrong option from a penalty in the opposition half which led to a breakaway try for Stafford and a clear 13 point lead.

The Camp Hill forwards did manage to exert pressure in the late stages and a series of penalties conceded by the home side at scrums within their own 22 resulted in the visitors being awarded their fifth penalty try of the season, which Barney converted.

Stafford, however, held on for an important victory leaving Camp hill with the single losing bonus point.
