Camps moved to within one point of clinching the reserve team league title with a resounding victory over a competitive Droitwich team.
Camps have won 13 of their 15 league fixtures, drawing one more and stand 4 points clear of next week’s opponents Stourbridge Lions in the final game of the season.
The home side were in charge from the kick off with fly half, Dick Brown, back from University prominent in a strong back line.
The first try was scored after only 5 minutes, centre Nick Humphreys run being stopped on the line but when the ball was released to Jan Van der Walt he crashed over for his first try of the day, converted by Barney Edwards.
By the quarter hour mark Camps were 19 points in front with a second try from Jan and a neat finish by winger Liam Lindsey that Barney converted.
Droitwich came straight back, however, with a try of their own and, although Barney added a penalty it was the visitors who ended the half in the ascendancy with a second try; 25-12 at the half.
Any thoughts that Camps might allow the game to slip however were dispelled from the restart when some fine handling ended with winger Sam Hartley slipping the ball to the supporting Danny Ingram for an excellent try.
Five minutes later the result was sealed when Jan completed his hat trick following a rolling maul.
Now in total control, Camps added two more tries before the end, Sam Hartley diving over in the right hand corner giving Barney the opportunity to kick a touchline conversion and then, finally, Harry Cunningham, returning from injury went over in the other corner. Liam Morrissy, taking advantage of Barney's spell in the bin, struck an equally impressive conversion from the other corner to round off a thoroughly entertaining game.
Hopefully, there will be celebrations at the Club after next week’s game!
