In bright but blustery conditions, the omens were not good with an injury- and illness-depleted squad taking the field, but strength in adversity prevailed in an all-round demolition of Old Laurentians, the home side well and truly banishing the muddy muddles of the last couple of weeks with a dominant forwards’ display

Camps took an early lead with a typical forwards’ try from Pranny followed up by a darting run and try by Ben S, giving an inspired late notice stand-in performance at scrum half.

Despite a first-half yellow card (during which a characteristic breakaway try by Kayin extended the lead), the hosts never looked in danger of surrendering territory or the lead and restricted the visitors to a single converted score just before half time.

In the second half a much improved line-out, coupled with the continuation of an effective pick-and-go game backed by some astute kicking, and some excellent carrying by several forwards including Joe F, Jack N, Dan W and Ben E, ensured the scores continued to mount. A second try each for Pranny and Kayin, and one each for Ben E and for Joe F to round off his man-of-the-match performance, plus dead-eyed accuracy from the kicking tee from Theo ensured a second half shut out, and leaves the team in good shape for the challenging away fixture at Tamworth next week
