Tournament Rules.

The tournament will be played in accordance with the current 2016/17 RFU Age Grade Regulations and the Under12s New Rules of Play.

Squads will consist of 17 players maximum, with a team size of 12. All registration forms detailing full names, dates of birth and registration numbers must be submitted to the administration centre by 09.45am.

The Organisers have endeavoured to provide independent referees to cover the refereeing of the matches; however, additional referees may be required for some games, and hence all clubs are required to include the details of a suitable referee on the registration form who may be called upon. Please note it is the responsibility of the visiting clubs that all participating coaches have up to date DSB checks in place.

Every match will be played over 6 minutes each way with a 2 minute interval at half time.
Each match will be started by sounding a claxon to ensure each pool keeps to the specified timing. Clubs should, therefore, be ready to play at the allotted time as matches will not be delayed.

Morning Pool Matches

In each pool match a win will gain 2 points, a draw will gain 1 point and a loss receives zero points. If at the end of the pool stages two or more teams in a group have the same number of points, the following rules will be applied to decide final Pool Positions:
• The team with the greatest positive tries differential will be declared to be ahead of the other team(s).
• If teams have an identical tries differential, the team that has scored the greatest number of tries will be declared to be ahead of the other team(s).
• If the teams are still level, the result of the Pool Stage match between the teams shall be the deciding factor.
• If the teams are still level, then the finishing order will be decided by the toss of a coin undertaken by the Festival Organisers.

Afternoon Pool Matches

The format for the afternoon will again be on a Pool basis. Each of the teams finishing first in their respective morning pool, will form Pool A for the afternoon. Those teams finishing second in their morning pool will form Pool B, those finishing third forming Pool C and finally those finishing fourth Pool D. The teams will be displayed on a white board in the scorer’s tent once this has been established.

The afternoon pool matches will be played to the same rules, match length etc. as the morning pool.

It is not intended that there is an overall winner rather that all teams competing enjoy the experience of a competitive festival.

In the unlikely event of a dispute, the tournaments referee decision will be final.

All participating Clubs/coaches must take responsibility for the behavior of their supporters. Any behavior contrary to the RFU’s Code of Conduct, e.g. bad language, verbal abuse of referees or players will not be tolerated. The Festival Coordinators reserve the right to report any such behavior to the club’s County Disciplinary Committee and the RFU.

Teams may be eliminated from the Festival, or deducted points, if, in the opinion of the referee or the Festival Officials, the behavior of players or no-playing members of the squad, coaching staff or supporters is deemed unacceptable.
