Camp Hill Win Again

This Sunday Camp Hill U 11's played Tamworth at home over 4 quarters of 10 mins. Tamworth were possibly, no definitely were, the biggest side the U11's have ever played. They not only had a large number of tall players, they were virtually all broad and stocky with a few stones weight advantage. Even Oscar and Arran were dwarfed by them.

Things were hard going in the ruck and maul as was to be expected given the size difference but, Camp Hill held there own by and large. Thankfully no pushing is allowed in the scrum at U11 level! The size of the Tamworth players worked against them though in open running play where they could not compete with Camp Hills pace and greater agility. Camp Hill were also quicker to the breakdown.

When Tamworth had the ball Camp Hill's tackling was excellent, pulling down the opposition time and time again. Often it took more than two to stop the forward progress of the Tamworth players. The pressure Camp Hill put on Tamworth when they had the ball forced them in to numerous handling errors which Camp Hill capitalised on.

At the end of the match it was Camp Hill 45 Tamworth 15.

Tamworth should be commended as they never let their heads go down and competed to the final whistle.

James Paine, who only joined the team recently, was awarded Player of the Match for the considerable steps forward he has made in such a short period of time. Everyone else played superbly putting in total effort and commitment.
