Camp Hill u9s kick start their New Year rugby with their first game since late November.

Their return takes place at Sutton Coldfield after their previous match was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
Again, the small but fearless squad of 9 looked to be dwarfed by a 22 strong opposition but after a win against Moseley with similar numbers early in the season they weren’t daunted.
The first of three games commenced and it seemed both sides were evenly matched with the ball moving up and down the pitch as each team struggled to push the ball over the line.
Good play was put forward by the Camp Hill squad and a few breaks were made by a couple of the players but Half Time was called with a score at nil nil.
The second half continued with much of the same and eventually George Kemp managed to push through and put Camp Hill in the lead.
Sutton soon equalized and the game ended a draw.

Game 2 saw a fresh set of legs for the hosts and an early dominance for Camp Hill paid off with Kaie Turner placing the ball down to go 1 nil up. Kaie also pulled off a spectacular line out close to our own try line, when he sailed the ball over the heads of the line into the waiting arms of scrum half Tom Hornby. Sutton reacted well and took him down.
Sutton managed to equalize later in the uneventful second half.

Prior to game 3 team coach Leanne Ashworth requested a 2-0 win from the team and this game was perhaps the most exciting of the morning. Both teams were working very hard to make their Club the mornings overall victors.
The ball was moving up and down the pitch and body after body was crashing into rucks and it appeared that possession was changing hands at every tackle.
Nearly every member of the squad made a break for the try line only to be brought down. Eventually Mickey McCarthy picked a stray ball up from the breakdown and sprints to take the ball over the tryline just before half time.
With Camp Hill now in the lead Sutton were trying so hard to equalize and they too made some breaks and even had a try denied to a foot in touch. This spurred Camps on as victory was in their sights. Tackles seemed to be intensifying and could easily have gotten out of hand but fair play prevailed and after being on the receiving end of probably the hardest flying tackle in Game 2, and driving the ball halfway up the pitch with at least 3 opposition hanging on to him, Ethan Darragh manages to score just as the final whistle is blown.

Overall victory of the Morning to Camp Hill 20 points – 10
