Cannock turn up the heat in flawless 2nd half.

Cannock, today were looking to put some wrongs to right. A tough couple of away fixtures had meant the Lions had slipped a place in the table to today's visitors.

The first encounters were a tight affair. Midfield collisions and strong defense from both sides kept the scores at nil. Gareth Ley did put Dave Edwards into space but a knock on brought play back. Edwardians took the lead after their impressive 12 ran through some lackluster tackles. 0-5.

The home side worked back up the pitch. It was evident that Eds didn't fancy in your face rugby but Cannock didn't demonstrate this enough in the 1st half. Jordan Pincombe cut the deficit with a neatly struck penalty. 3-5.

Eds struck again after more painful to watch defence. A line out and quick ball again put the 12 in space and again he punished, putting the supporting winger under the posts. 3-12

The Cannock pack started to assert dominance. Carries from 2 of the excellent back row Jamie Fullelove and Darren Baugh allowed stand in 9 Stephen Frost to exploit gaps with quick ball. Skipper Jon Freeman carried to the line and after a neat chip, Josh Humphries collected and powered through to score (No dab though) 10-12.

Frustratingly from the kick off a penalty was awarded to Eds for Cannock D going off their feet. This was duly taken and the score went to 10-15. HT.

An inspirational team talk from coach in the huddle sent a message clear to the Lions. This was after the returning Will Jukes set the precedent after completely smashing the big 12 with his 1st involvement with the game.

From the start Joe Brookes collected and smashed through attempted tackles. Cannock were awarded a penalty and Pincombe gained the territory. Another penalty and scrum was chosen. The front row of Scott Lathe, John Shirley and Dave Gunter made light work of another front row and duly steered the scrum for another tap down for Freeman. 15-15.

Cannock now had complete ascendancy. Daniel Blake as ever petrified D with some big line breaks. Jukes and Humphries both made ground after good play. The backs sprayed the ball from right to left and Ley finished the move showing great strength to brush off 2 tacklers. 22-15.

Scott Pedley in a new look formation started at 13. He utilised the back 3 well and had good in play kicking skills with more space. He gained 40 meters with one of these kicks and Cannock kept play in Eds territory. Penalty awarded and the quick thinking Frost Smashed through off a quick tap. 29-15.

More pressure and another penalty. Cannock opted for the line. With the Mail being brought down, man of the match Brookes powered over to score the last try of the game. 34-15.

Cannock now have a friendly week ahead of a tough run into the end of the season.

The 2's traveled to Willenhall and prevailed with a 7-17 victory.

Training is on Wednesday at 7pm. Please make the effort to make it.
