A lot has happened since we last spoke...
September saw the start of the 25/26 campaign for our 1st and 2nd XV's, after a long and productive pre-season over the summer, the lads were ready to see what the new season holds for Cape.
1st XV
On opening day the 1s played host to Crosby St Mary's, who came with a few quick backs who grabbed a hold of the game in the 2nd half - taking 5 points back to Hightown with them.
Cape had to regroup the following week with a trip away to tricky Newton Le Willows, a side we have struggled to beat in recent years. The game saw a debut for our fantastic new Teejac kit with support from our fantastic sponsors, and it was a winning debut as Cape fought hard to win 30-22.
In Gameweek 3 we travelled in torrential rain to Caldy 3's. Only 6 months ago we lost this fixture 113-5 - so we knew a tough game was in store. The rain played in Capes' favour as it suited our 'ball up the jumper' style of play and after a fantastic team performance, the 1st XV went top of Division 3 West with a huge 22-10 victory.
A challenging October awaits as we face New Brighton 2's and Chester 3's.
2nd XV
A quiet month for our newly-formed 2nd team. Wallasey 2's struggled to raise a side on opening day, so that game was rearranged to a double header at Cape in late April.
The following week brought Moore 2's to Capenhurst Lane, a true Division 5 encounter, both sides going end-to-end and it was the Cape Swans who came away with a 55-33 victory. A brilliant way to start a new era in Capenhurst colours.
It looks a busier October with 3 games against Hoylake 2s, Merseyside Police and Widnes 3's.
